JOSHUA KORS

Attorney at Law

Joshua Kors is a family law attorney and a passionate advocate for parents who are facing the daunting challenges of divorce.

He represents clients in New York and New Jersey, securing custody, visitation, child support, alimony, and the equitable distribution of marital assets.  A skilled negotiator, Kors has crafted swift resolutions for the majority of his clients and guided others from initial consultation to a successful verdict.

Before founding Kors Law Group, he served as an associate attorney at Roven Law Group, Gorlick Kravitz & Listhaus, and Spodek Law Group, respected family law firms in Manhattan.  Previously, he worked at the Vanderbilt Family Law Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee, representing victims of domestic violence in Tennessee Family Court.

Kors has a J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, a master’s from Columbia University, and graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College, where he served as a Rugg & Porter Legal Fellow.

He co-authors "Recent Decisions," an ongoing column in the NY State Bar Association's magazine Family Law Review, exploring recent legislation, court decisions and trends in matrimonial law.

Before becoming a family law attorney, Kors worked as an investigative reporter covering legal issues. His writing about the law has been honored by the American Bar Association and Harvard University, and he is the winner of numerous awards, including the National Magazine Award, Polk Award, and Casey Medal.

He has been interviewed on CNN, PBS, BBC, NPR and Washington Post Radio, and his legal reporting was featured on an ABC News “Nightline" series, which won the Peabody Award.

Kors has testified before Congress three times and lectured about the law at Harvard, U.C. Berkeley, Wesleyan, and Vanderbilt University, and he delivered a TED talk about the legal struggles of our military families.

In his spare time, Kors serves on the Board of Directors of two organizations: the Amherst College Alumni of New York and Disposable Warriors, a nonprofit that provides services to military families.  He is also a longtime member of the Mindfulness in Law Society, a meditation organization for legal professionals.
